Students will learn that when God gives a command, He also gives a promise. Second graders will begin to see how obedience to God's commands brings blessings as God fulfills His promises in their lives. Students plan, draft, revise, proofread, and publish eight different types of writing: personal story, instructions, couplet and shape poem, book report, friendly letter, make-believe story, descriptive paragraph, and research report. A thorough presentation of English instruction with a balance of grammar study and writing practice. Take students back to the founding of the United States—from Jamestown through the War for Independence—while explaining Colonial farming, shopkeeping, clothing, and kings and queens. Topics are grouped into nine strands: Numbers and Operations Measurement Geometry Patterns, Algebra, and Functions Statistics, Data Analysis, and Probability Problem Solving Communication Mathematical Reasoning Connections Life Science - Vertebrates, Invertebrates, Plants, Ecosystems and Habitats, Classification Physical Science - Energy, Work, Motion, Matter, Force Earth and Space Science - The Lithosphere, the Hydrosphere, the Atmosphere, Astronomy Human Body - Senses, Nervous System, Digestive System, Skin, Health, Diseases and Disorders Skills - Investigation, Critical Thinking, Organizational Students will continue to learn the 44 phonics rules. They will transition into Accelerated Reader books at their own level. They will also begin reading novels together in class. Bible-Positive Action for Christ
