Jonathan Alameda

Jonathan Alameda - Assistant Pastor

Jonathan was born and raised in Tucson, AZ. He grew up in a very traditional Catholic home and attended private Catholic schools as a child. When he was 13 years-old, he was invited by his uncle to attend a church service at Christ Community where he heard the gospel and received Jesus Christ as his Savior. Uncertain of what that would entail, it would not be until the summer of his freshman year in high school, when he attended Calvary Chapel Summer Camp, that the Lord would get ahold of his heart by allowing him to be broken. God spoke three words to Jonathan's heart..."it is time." The next few years, the Lord would use Jonathan's circumstances to bring him into a deeper understanding of the Lord and what those three words truly meant.

During the rest of his high school years, he was discipled by his uncle and grew closer to the Lord. Through many trials and difficulties, the Lord would show Jonathan what it really meant to trust in Him.

After graduating from Tucson High School, Jonathan pursued a career in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). He attended college and became certified as an EMT and worked with the local fire department. From there, Jonathan moved from EMS and began working in clinical cardiology where he was introduced to physicians and the pursuit of a career in medicine...but God had different plans. Feeling the Lord leading him to get more involved in ministry, he doubted there would ever be an opportunity for him. Shortly after, he was approached by Pastor Pete LaJoy who told him to pray about becoming an intern pastor.

Jonathan joined the staff at Calvary Tucson in May, 2003 as an intern pastor working with the youth ministry. He worked alongside Calvary Tucson Youth Pastor, Pete LaJoy for a couple years.  After working with Pastor Pete, Jonathan became the High School Pastor at our East Campus for several years.  He has a heart to reach the youth in our city with the saving message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
