Students will study the New Testament, focusing on the life of Christ, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the life and writings of Paul. Students plan, draft, revise, proofread, and publish eight different types of writing: personal narrative, friendly letter with instructions, compare-contrast essay, book review, tall tale, research report, business letter, haiku, and acrostic poetry. Rubrics are provided to help the teacher evaluate each type of writing. Math 5/4 simultaneously develops the five basic strands of mathematics: number sense/operations, statistics/probability, algebra, geometry/measurement, and logic. The specific intent of Math 5/4 is to guarantee that K-3 foundational skills are solidly in place while solidifying skills in division and introducing the concepts of computing with fractions, decimals, and percents. Bring to life great movements and events in American history from the late 1700s through the early 1900s. The lessons examine immigration, evangelists, missionaries, inventions, the Industrial Revolution, the Boer War, and the Boxer Uprising. Prepare your child with classic literature excerpts, character-building stories, and activities that develop research and literary skills and strengthen him for the increased academic demands of the future.
